Rowan of Rin

It is written for a younger age group than I tend to read, but the rich texture and characters appeals to many ages. I read this before my son got all the way through it, because I wanted to know how scary the scary parts were!

All is well in Rin and there is only one problem, Rowan, the main character, is considered a coward. Emily Rodda has got to be up there in the reasons I like fantasy so much, because I grew up on these books and her Deltora Quest towan and absolutely loved all the adventure, fantasy and little riddles and puzzles along the way.

Most people can identify with Rowan and even at times orwan companions in this book. This book falls short on details though. I think Rowan learned a vaulable lesson about not worrying what other people think. Of course it’s a lot more predictable reading the story as an adult, 3.

The climax of the novel itself spans over only five or so paragraphs. Oct 13, Krystal rated it really liked it Shelves: I especially godda that Rowan, the main character, is a scared kid, not a hulking grown-up, and the readers can identify with his emotions and actions the whole way through.

Rowan of Rin (Rowan of Rin, #1) by Emily Rodda

You don’t know what’s going to happen next. When an expedition to the top of the mountain is formed to save the bukshah Rowan is forced to go. But, when the sweet water that comes from the forbidden Mountain fails to flow for many days, Rowan finds himself caught up in events beyond his control.

Definitely a case of brawn over brains Lovely to come back to it. Thanks for telling us about the problem. The valley behind the Mountain was eventually settled, and named the Valley of Gold. This was the perfect challenge for my son, who is done w I read this before my son got all the way through it, because I wanted to know how scary the scary parts were!
